HK Digital Policy Office

Law Society of Hong Kong
A circular issued by the Law Society of Hong Kong in December 2025 setting out the risks of generative AI in legal practice and practical tips for solicitors. It cautions that output may be inaccurate or fabricated and must be verified, that client confidentiality must be protected when using tools, and that solicitors remain responsible for all work product.

Hong Kong Judiciary
Guidelines issued by the Hong Kong Judiciary in July 2024 for judges, judicial officers and support staff on generative AI. Using generative AI for legal analysis or reasoning is not recommended, administrative uses are permitted, confidential case information must not be entered into public tools, and any output must be verified. Sectoral guidelines for the legal profession are under consultation.
