What the vendor documents
Recorded from the vendor's own trust, privacy and terms pages. "Not disclosed" means we found no public statement, not that the control is absent.
What the public documentation states
Definely's homepage describes AI tools for lawyers working on complex contracts in Word, and its homepage says users can work in Word. The trust centre states SOC 2 Type 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 42001:2023, Cyber Essentials, audit logging and a 2026 penetration test report. It says Prescient Security independently assesses alignment with ISO/IEC 42001; a current public DPA statement was not re-found in this pass. The privacy policy says personal data may be transferred to or processed in countries including Belarus, Lithuania, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. The terms of use are effective from 13 September 2021 and use English law. The audit did not find named model providers, a no-training-on-customer-data statement, a public sub-processor list or zero-retention wording. No public price, pricing model, free trial, minimum term or seat minimum was found; `/pricing` returned a not-found page. Definely publishes AI lifecycle and third-party ISO 42001 material, but the audit did not find a numerical accuracy metric.
In the vendor's words
“SOC 2 Type 2”
“ISO/IEC 42001:2023”
“independently assess our alignment with ISO/IEC 42001”
“including Belarus, Lithuania, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States”
Not disclosed on public pages
"Not disclosed" records that no public statement was found where we looked, on the date shown. It does not assert that the control, term or figure is absent.
Not published on the pages we read on 2026-09-16: model providers, privacy-policy update date, public DPA, public sub-processors, free trial, list price, pricing model, minimum term, seat minimum, encryption-at-rest statement, no-training commitment, private deployment, SSO/SAML, zero-retention wording and an accuracy metric. Procurement and DPIA reviews normally need these for client confidentiality, vendor-chain mapping, international transfers, GDPR Art. 28 terms, retention analysis and lawyer supervision.
Questions to put to the vendor
- Which AI model providers process contract text for Draft, Proof, Create or other Definely products?
- Where is the current sub-processor list published, and which providers process matter documents?
- Is customer contract text used to train or fine-tune models, including evaluation datasets?
- Which transfer safeguards apply to processing in Belarus, Lithuania, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States?
- What price, seat floor, minimum term and trial terms apply to law-firm and in-house deployments?
