What the document requires
- Lawyers must individually check the reliability of AI output and corroborate it with external sources; unverifiable material must be flagged to the court.
- Client personal, confidential, privileged and copyright-protected information must not be entered into AI platforms.
- Explicit written client consent is required before client personal information is used in open AI systems, specifying document types and security measures.
- Closed, in-house AI systems are preferred for confidential work to limit unauthorised access.
- The lawyer bears full civil and ethical responsibility for AI use; unverified reliance breaches the duties of loyalty and diligence, and sanctions can run to licence revocation.
