A six-point non-binding opinion of the Czech Bar Association. Lawyers may use any technology, including AI, provided they meet all statutory and professional duties. AI cannot itself provide legal services; entering client data into AI tools will normally breach confidentiality unless the client gives specific prior informed consent.

What the document requires
- Point 1: the Bar does not and will not restrict lawyers' use of technology, provided confidentiality, data-protection and ethics duties are met.
- Point 2: AI in any form cannot be a provider of legal services within the meaning of § 1 of the Act on Advocacy (Act No. 85/1996 Coll.).
- Point 4: answers addressing a concrete legal problem are legal advice reserved to authorised persons; website AI that leads a potential client to believe they are receiving lawyer's advice is 'highly inappropriate'. Using AI does not affect the lawyer's own liability.
- Point 5: AI acts autonomously and unpredictably and is potentially risky as to accuracy; entering client information — even solely to train the tool — will most likely breach the statutory duty of confidentiality, for which the lawyer is always responsible.
- Point 6: prior client consent must expressly state that the client knows AI may behave unpredictably and expressly permit sharing the information, even anonymised, with unspecified similar systems.
