Indonesia's first bar AI guideline, issued by PERADI on 6 August 2026. It uses permitted, supervised and prohibited risk tiers, treats AI as augmentation rather than a replacement for human reasoning, and requires every AI output to pass through the advocate's own intellectual review before use.

What the document requires

  • Every AI output must undergo the advocate's own intellectual examination and filtration; professional accountability remains with the advocate.
  • AI must be an assistant or augmentation, not a replacement for human reasoning.
  • Prohibits fully automated legal decisions and any use that eliminates human control, misleads clients or courts, breaches confidentiality, or discriminates.
  • Firms must continue to give trainee advocates adequate mentoring, training and learning opportunities; AI must not replace mentorship.
  • PERADI commits to encouraging continuing education so that members have adequate technology literacy.
