Regulation Tracker / enforcement and authorisation

AI legal services for the public: what regulators and courts have done

The official record on AI-enabled legal services offered to the public — enforcement by consumer and legal-services regulators, unauthorized-practice litigation and bar opinions, authorisations under regulatory sandboxes and alternative-structure licences where the regulator itself describes the provider as AI- or software-based, and courts' own AI tools for self-represented people. A service appears here only because a regulator or court acted or listed it; allegations are stated as the regulator framed them and paired with the outcome. SafeLegalAI does not review, rate or recommend consumer services.

How this is made

Sources are the regulators' and courts' own: the Federal Register and FTC matter pages, federal court opinions, the Utah Supreme Court's authorisation orders and the Office of Legal Services Innovation register, the SRA, the Law Society of Ontario and the Law Society of British Columbia, the Bundesgerichtshof. Sandbox entries are included only where the regulator's own text describes the provider as AI, chatbot or software based. Repository and schema.

Vendor, product, court and regulator names and logos are the property of their respective owners and are used solely to identify the product, body or document referred to; SafeLegalAI claims no rights in them. SafeLegalAI is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or approved by any listed vendor, except where a record is labelled an affiliated product. Facts are recorded from vendors' published pages on the date shown; "not disclosed" means not found on the pages read, not that the vendor lacks it. No ranking, rating, review, recommendation or warranty is implied. Mark owners who prefer a text-only reference, and vendors seeking a correction, may write to the report page.
